This sweet grapefruit mojito inspired electrolyte drink is the perfect summer sipper. It's loaded with important electrolytes like sodium, magnesium and potassium to keep you hydrated on hot summer days.

This post was created in partnership with LMNT.

When you're on a weight loss or wellness journey, it's surprisingly easy to get imbalanced in electrolytes. This is because whole, natural foods don't contain very many of the important electrolytes that we need every single day.

This electrolyte imbalance can result in muscle cramps (like those horrible middle of the night calf cramps!) and low energy levels.

It doesn't help that a lot of people find regular water to be plain and boring, which can result in even further dehydration.

That's why I decided to develop the tastiest, most refreshing electrolyte drink that makes you excited to stay hydrated.

I'm not exaggerating when I say this tastes like a non-alcoholic grapefruit mojito. You're going to love sipping on this throughout the day to help hit your electrolyte needs.

Key Ingredients

Lemon

Lemon juice has been found to naturally stabilize blood sugar levels in a way similar to apple cider vinegar.(1) It also comes packed with vitamin C to boost the antioxidant level of this drink.

Sparkling Water

Sparkling water is an excellent swap to soda. Contrary to popular belief/myth, it does not "erode" your bones or teeth. In fact, it's a fantastic way to stay hydrated if you find regular water a bit too "boring" for your taste.

We drink a lot of sparkling water in our household, so we invested in a Soda Stream to make our own sparkling water at home. This saves us literally hundreds of dollars a year, plus we're able to use our high quality filtered water from our home system as the base.

You can find the Soda Stream that we use here.

LMNT Grapefruit Salt

If you aren't familiar with LMNT, it's a zero added sugar electrolyte powder that contains a good balance of sodium, magnesium and potassium to support maximum hydration. Unlike other electrolyte stick brands, LMNT doesn't shy away from sodium. Sodium is the major electrolyte our body uses to balance fluid levels and send signals from our brain to the rest of the body.

I've personally been using LMNT for over three years. I love the way it makes me feel and the fact that it actually tastes great.

Mint

Although mint doesn't have any unique hydrating properties, it does have well known gut soothing benefits. I also love that fresh mint adds a ton of flavor to this electrolyte drink without any sugar.

How To Make This Recipe

This super refreshing electrolyte drink comes together in less than two minutes. Here's how.

  1. Prepare your lemon juice by using a lemon squeezer or simply squeeze it with your hands. Make sure to do this step first so you can filter out any seeds that might have slipped through.

  2. Add all remaining ingredients to a large pitcher. Make sure to stir this thoroughly so that the electrolytes are mixed evenly into the drink.

  3. Pour in the ice and serve! You can also garnish with additional lemon slices for each serving glass.

If splitting this recipe with multiple people, make sure to get any additional electrolytes you may need throughout the day.

Frequently asked questions:

What electrolytes are in this electrolyte drink?

Although there is a small amount of naturally occurring electrolytes in lemon and sparkling water, the majority of the electrolytes in this drink can be found in the form of sodium, magnesium and potassium from LMNT.

Can I drink the entire electrolyte drink?

You can absolutely drink the entire recipe to yourself. Depending on your electrolyte needs, you may need a little more or a little less, so make sure to adjust your intake based on your needs. I personally use at least one packet per day of LMNT because I am active and eat a mostly whole food diet.
