How Vicky Naturally Got Her Period Back in 21 Days Using Intermittent Fasting!

Updated: May 27, 2020

Roughly 5-10% of all women have PCOS. This equates to around 5 million American women with PCOS.(1) This also makes it one of the most common hormonal disorders that women face. And as many women have come to understand, a common symptom of PCOS is the loss of your period.

A link that many researchers are finding with PCOS and period loss is the excessive production of testosterone from high levels of insulin (hyperinsulinemia) in the body. This is one of the reasons clinicians and researchers are finding that by reducing the insulin response, they can see success with naturally helping to get their client's periods back.

One of the studied perks of Intermittent Fasting is improved insulin sensitivity which theoretically could help with PCOS as well.(2) This is exactly what Vicky experienced after just three weeks of utilizing Intermittent Fasting with the 21 Day Intermittent Fasting Program.

Here's a little sneak peek of Vicky's incredible experience:

"I have been doing IF for about 3 weeks and yesterday, I GOT MY PERIOD. A real period and I am so excited!!!! My body is healing. Giving my body a rest period from food is WORKING."

Checkout Vicky's incredibly inspiring story of how she naturally got her period back using Intermittent Fasting below!

Tell us about yourself!

Hi! I am Vicky. I am from Oro-Medonte Ontario Canada. I love dogs and board games!

What was your goal with the 21 Day Intermittent Fasting Program?

Ultimately, I have big weight loss goals, but the idea of IF being good for those with insulin resistance immediately intrigued me. I am 29 and my period has never been regular. It's been all over the place. Sometimes, it would be months with no period. I was diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance and weight loss is VERY difficult for me. I don't follow the nutrition plan exactly; I aim to make better choices opting for protein, fat, fibre and greens. That being said, I make sure to stick to the eating window times.

I have been doing IF for about 3 weeks and yesterday, I GOT MY PERIOD. A real period and I am so excited!!!! My body is healing. Giving my body a rest period from food is WORKING. I have been on birth control and Metformin and neither of helped as quickly or as well as IF has (or made me feel as good!). I can't wait to see more changes as they come!!

Did you try anything in the past?

You name it, I have tried it. Weight Watchers, calorie counting, 21 Day Fix and other intense workout programs

Did you have any hesitations before you got started on the Program?

Yes for sure. I wasn't sure it would work so that was a big one and I thought I would be hungry with not eating until later in the day. This is not true at all! I also wondered if IF was healthy.

What's the biggest wellness win you have experienced?

Getting my period back - HUGE WIN! I have lost about 6 pounds, too (in 3 weeks!). Woo hoo! Excited to keep going!

Did you have a "Nutrition Nerd" moment?

I have a hard time picking one. I have learned so much about food. I think the biggest one would be learning how insulin works in the body and where it gets stored.

Is there anything else you want to share with the AENpeeps?

I am so excited to see what weight loss goals I can accomplish using IF and how my body continues to react. SO EXCITED!
